Description

Our Sixth release of Black Label Somerset Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky was produced from a spirit with a specialty malt blend leaning heavily into caramalt and biscuit malt then aged in a heavily toasted and charred American oak ex-bourbon cask for just over 3 years.

Bottled at 50.8% this whisky is rich, robust and driven by malt derived coffee, caramel, and chocolate notes that linger from the nose through to the back of the palate, blending confidently with the vanilla and oak influences of the American oak cask it was matured in.  It highlights the sheer depth and volume of flavour that can be derived from unadulterated malt and oak when they work together.

The angels hit us pretty hard with this one and there are only 28 bottles in this release.  As with all of our black label whiskies this release comes with a full document of provenance detailing every step of the whiskies production from brewing to maturation.

If you’ve read our blog about producing our first release of single malt whisky (click here if you haven’t) you’ll know that as much as a whisky can do it told the story of how we got to where we are today.  We think this whisky is a perfect continuation of that story, and a great example of what not following the crowd can bring to the table.
